Choroi Octa Diatonic Flute - No Tone Block Choroi flutes are my personal favorites for working with children and for my own playing and this one is my absolute favorite. Their sound is simply lovely - clear and mellow. They feel warm in the hand and are easier to play than other instruments I have tried. I also love this flute because it can be used for all Grades/Years, but is required for Grade 3. If you only purchase one set of instruments, purchase these. Because of the new labium without tone block, a relaxed breathing technique is possible. Like all Choroi flutes, the Octa has a gentle, easy-to-articulate tone that needs a minimum of pressure and allows for free, fluent play. The flute's unique shape allows for playing half tones simply by half-closing the finger holes and the German fingering system affords no forked-finger playing - ie no situations where one finger is down, the next is up, the next is down which can be challenging for younger players.
